There are around 2500 breeding Ewes, mostly Swaledale ran on the farm and accompanying fell land. We use Leicester and Texel tups to produce mule and texel cross lambs. Lambing time is from mid March to the end of April. The lambs are sold as stores or fattened. The gimmer lambs are retained and sold as shearlings the following year. There can be upward of 1,000 shearlings sold in Lazonby in early September. All other sheep sales will go through Carlisle, Cockermouth and Ulverston Auction Marts.
